RSPE State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Saraishyq"

Archaeological Expedition of the "Sarayshyq" Museum-Reserve

As part of the 2023–2025 program “Golden Horde cities of Saraishyq, Ushkan, Ashyssay, and Karagayly in the Context of Historical and Cultural Heritage (XIII–XV cc.)” by the Culture Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the archaeological expedition of the “Saraishyq” museum-reserve visited the wells of Taskuduk, Kyrykkuduk, Bileuli, and Shengeldi, located along the Great Silk Road. These wells were dug along caravan routes in the arid regions of today’s Makat district and served as important stops for a constant water supply. Some of these wells have been restored and still play a significant role in the livestock sector today.
