The "stamped" velvet of Saraishyq

In 2021, during the excavations of the "Khan's Grave" mausoleum, a small piece of cloth was discovered. A study by restorer Tetiana Krupa showed that this is a red velvet fabric with patterns. This textile product is entirely made of silk, a very high-quality fabric with gilded silver threads. Its origin may be the Ottoman Empire, dating from the XV-XVI centuries. Clothes made of embossed velvet fabric were characteristic of fashion in the global trend of that time, it was sewn only by rich, influential people. The found relic testifies to the special status and elitism of the "Khan's Grave" mausoleum in Saraishyq.
