Today, the “Saraishyq” Ethnographic Museum hosted the interactive exhibition “Saraishyq – Heritage of Steppe Civilization,” filled with a special spirit and national values. The event opened with the traditional “Auldyń Alty Auzy,” immediately immersing guests in the atmosphere of Kazakh culture.
During the exhibition, visitors did not simply admire the displays — they also discovered the secrets of traditional crafts passed down through generations:
Spinning Workshop: Respected village elders Baten Apa and Kalima Apa demonstrated the traditional art of spinning with a spindle. Baten Apa showed how wool is prepared, teased and spun, and spoke about the benefits of products made from natural yarn for human health.
Traditional Weaving and Alasha Making: Guests had the opportunity to learn about traditional weaving techniques inside the yurt. Mariya Apa shared the secrets of alasha weaving and conducted a hands-on workshop.
“Samovar Battle”: It felt as though the museum’s exhibits had come to life! Visitors were served water from traditional brass jugs, followed by hot tea brewed in a samovar heated over glowing coals.
The meaningful evening concluded with a traditional blessing (bata) from Temirbolat Aga, a respected village elder.
