Medieval Saraishyq - the capital of the Kazakh Khanate
RSPE State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Saraishyq"

A scientific and technical Council

The state historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Saraishyq" hosted a scientific and technical meeting on the preservation of archaeological sites in the medieval Saraishyq. Moderator Abilseit Mukhtar focused on the essence of the event and noted that the proposals announced at the meeting will be sent to the Ministry of Culture and sports. The chief inspector of the Museum-Reserve A. Turaruly noted that the preservation of ancient cities built almost entirely of clay is an urgent issue. Stating that clay buildings cannot withstand natural influences, he proposed using an effective full-coverage technology to protect each object from wind, sun, and water. Archaeologist V.Plakhov said that there are effective ways of storing clay buildings in foreign countries, and said it is necessary to find ways to use the same materials in Saraishyq. Archaeologist M. Yeleuov said that he had seen that every archaeological site abroad was individually covered with glass. He suggested that they use strong glass that does not break, even if a person walks on it, and it is necessary to use the same technologies in our country. He noted that the establishment of a monopoly on restoration work in the country makes it very expensive. Therefore, it is necessary to create a competitive environment. "If we do not start preserving the Khan's tomb in Saraishyq from now on, it may be too late" Professor M. Eleuov said. The participants of the meeting positively assessed the routes of trade routes from Saraishyq, which were determined by the archaeologists of the museum-reserve, and approved the continuation of scientific research.
