On March 29, 2019, the researchers of the preserve F. Baidauletov and A. Zainov conducted archaeological studies on the left and right banks of the Ural River in the Makhambet district. The primary aim of the expedition is to identify and study medieval historical sites and mounds of the early Iron Age of the Sarmatian period.
Expedition route
The expedition route began from the right bank of the Ural River and continued on the territories adjacent to the left bank of the Ural River. Exploration work began with the definition of an object similar to an early Iron Age mound in the area of the Karabay settlement of the Alga rural district. However, this mound was artificially made by the villagers. Geographic coordinates are N47 ° 29.6039 ′ / E51 ° 46.7135 ′
During exploration at the burial ground Altyn Aituar Usenuly, which is an architectural monument in the northeast of the village of Ortakshyl, in the burial places of the famous Sebek-berish clan, two medieval mounds were discovered. The height of these mounds is 1 meter, diameter 20 meters. The soil is mixed with small red brick stones. There are fragments of medieval ceramics.
The expedition route continued in the territory of the southwestern part of the village of Saraishyq. Fragments of the ceramic jugs similar to artifacts found on the settlement of Saraishyq were discovered 3 km from the village at a distance of 200-300 meters north of the Kulmeten mound.
