"Saraishyq" Museum-Reserve in Akkystau

On the 31st of May, in honor of the Day of Remembrance of victims of Political repression, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Saraishyq" held an exhibition "Repression in the USSR: The Prorva and the Astrakhan camps (1932-1950).)" in the House of Culture Zhalyn in the village Akkystau Isatay district. The exhibition is organized based on the results of the research project "The Prorva and the Astrakhan camps in the GULAG system: "History, memory, science (1932-1950)", won by the museum-reserve from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and held in 2020-2022. The purpose of the exhibition was to perpetuate the memory of the victims of political repression and to promote the exhibits received by the museum fund. The opening of the exhibition was attended by residents of the district, descendants of victims of political repression, school teachers, students. They shared their thoughts on organizing events in memory of victims of political repression not only on May 31.
