On May 23, a round table "The history of Prorva and the Astrakhan camps in the GULAG system", organized by the "State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Saraishyq" of the Committee of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Akimat of the Zhylyoysky district, was held in the Zhylyoysky district Historical and Local History Museum "Atamura" in the city of Kulsary. Moderator of the round table, Deputy Akim of the district G. Aishuakova noted that the purpose of the event is the history of the Astrakhan correctional labor camp in the GULAG system. Project manager, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor U. Akhmetova, member of the project A. Zhumabayev told about the goals of the camp, the camp units, the positions of prisoners, the national composition, expeditions to the locations of parts of the camp. The participants of the round table noted that this topic is relevant in the study of "white spots" in the history of the district. The participants of the scientific project gifted to the akimat of the district and the staff of the museum a collection of documents and materials "The camp system in the Caspian region of Kazakhstan (1932-1953)", published as a result of research. In turn, the director of the museum "Atamura" M. Kappanbayev presented the fund of the "Saraishyq" Museum-Reserve with a book telling the history of the district museum.
